FAQ

How do I connect to these devices?

It's easy and only requires a few simple steps. All you will need is a mobile device and an active wi-fi connection. Refer to our Getting Started page for instructions.

In some cases, Rafi may have already completed the initial setup of the Amazon Echo from another wi-fi network prior to installing within your unit.  You will need to then connect to the Echo using Rafi's default login provided in your welcome e-mail, and change the wi-fi connection to your personal wi-fi network through the Alexa app. Follow the instructions in this link from Amazon.

 

Can I login with my personal accounts on the Amazon Echo?

Yes - doing so will enable you to use all the features of your existing Amazon account with the Echo Plus, including Amazon music, and Amazon shopping.

Just keep in mind that logging in with your personal accounts may require additional set up and reconfiguration of devices, like the Philips Hue lights or Leviton smart switches. 

 

Can I connect my own smart devices to the Amazon echo?

Definitely! The Echo Plus has a built-in hub that seamlessly connects and controls ZigBee smart devices, such as light bulbs, door locks, switches, and plugs, without the need for separate hubs or apps. Just say "Alexa, discover my devices" and Echo Plus will discover and set up your devices. Echo Plus can connect to hundreds of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth smart home devices with the Alexa app, such as lights, outlets, TVs, thermostats, cameras, and more.

 

What if i don't have an amazon account?

You need have an Amazon account in order to connect to the Amazon Echo through the Alexa app. If you don't already have your own Amazon account, you can sign up for one, or use the default login account that Rafi provided you in your rollout e-mail.

If you use Rafi's default login, we recommend changing your password as soon as you take control of the Smart Devices. You can do so by following the instructions in this link.

 

Is my privacy protected?

Maintaining the privacy of all Rafi tenants is important to us. We do not sell, rent, or lease our subscription lists to third parties, and we will not provide your personal information to any third party individual, government agency, or company at any time unless compelled to do so by law. We will use your e-mail address solely to provide timely information about changes to the Rafi.Live program.

Whose smart devices are these?

Rafi Properties, LLC has provided Amazon Echo and other smart-home devices to their tenants as a part of the "Rafi.Live" program. All electronic devices and lighting fixtures remain the property of Rafi Properties, LLC and are expected to be maintained with a reasonable level of care, as pursuant to the terms of the tenant's lease agreement.

 

What should I do with the devices when my lease is up?

Prior to leaving we ask that you sign out of all your personal accounts, and unregister all linked smart devices. Then just leave the devices in the unit for us to reclaim and assess along with your move-out inspection.
